New Spaces to Play
Currently a small play-lot adjacent to the Westside Trail, Enota Park is getting an upgrade. the redesigned park will span 8-acres and include a basketball court, activity field, splash pad, playground, large pavilion and a solar shade structure. It will feature Proctor Creek – which emerges here from its underground starting point at the Georgia World Congress Center – along with active, passive, and forested recreation areas.
The rejuvenated Enota Park will feature an original piece of artwork from an artist with ties to the West End or Westview.
The expanded park will be bounded by Interstate 20 to the north, the Westside Trail to the east, Lucile Avenue to the south, and Enota Place to the west. The project is being developed through collaboration between Atlanta BeltLine, Inc. and the City of Atlanta.
Design & Construction Update
The design for Enota Park, led by Pond Engineering in partnership with the City of Atlanta, is complete. Community engagement began in early 2018 and will continue once funding is identified and construction commences.
During early clearing stages, hungry goats were brought into Enota Park to clear invasive plant species such as kudzu. The goats were paid for by a grant ABI and Trees Atlanta received from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) Five Star and Urban Waters Restoration Grant Program, funded by the Southern Company. Trees Atlanta manages the Greet the Goats program, an adorable way to maintain various greenspaces around Atlanta.
