In 2018, A/C Clutch Bicycle Shop became the first full-service bicycle shop to open its doors on the Westside of Atlanta in over 40 years. Conveniently located across from the Atlanta BeltLine Westside Trail at Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard, SW, its fresh, new façade warmly beckons customers to come in and talk shop with the friendly crew behind the service desk: business partners Kenneth Oladapo, Kris Dunbar, and Michelle Dunbar.
Passionate about cycling and all things bike-related, Kenneth Oladapo spent several years under the tutelage of bike mechanic and service expert, Kris Dunbar and dreamed of one day owning his own business. He approached Kris about a partnership that would enable him to transition into having a shop. For the Dunbars, who also own and operate Aztec Cycles in Stone Mountain, A/C Clutch was a way for them to get into the Atlanta market on the Westside.
“We understood the dynamics of what the BeltLine partnership is actually bringing to all these neighborhoods in Atlanta,” explained Michelle Dunbar. “And the fact that the entrance to the BeltLine is right across street, it was just the perfect location.”
Well-received by the community, Clutch Bicycle Shop not only sells and services bikes: they also organize community rides and offer bike rentals for people who may not be ready for the bike life.
“One of the visions for also coming into the Westside of Atlanta was to offer the community a quality bike shop so that way they don’t have to venture outside of the community in order to have the level of service that we offer here,” shared Kris Dunbar.
“Our brand is to bring bicycle mechanics and service to every single person in the community.”
